Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

Why is blood glucose control important around the time of surgery?

  1. AHigh glucose impairs white cell function and raises the risk of surgical site infection
  2. BLow glucose is needed around surgery so that the wound edges close more quickly
  3. CHigh glucose makes anesthetic drugs work for much longer and delays waking up
  4. DGlucose levels only affect patients who have type 1 diabetes

  1. AA patient with an MRSA wound due for a routine dressing change
  2. BA patient who wants more alcohol hand rub in the room
  3. CA patient on chemotherapy with a new temperature of 38,4 °C (101,1 °F)
  4. DA patient with tuberculosis who is asking to have visitors
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

An older patient is found to be mildly hypothermic. Which care is most appropriate?

  1. APlacing hot water bottles directly on the skin
  2. BGradual rewarming with blankets and warm surroundings
  3. CPutting the patient in a very hot bath straight away
  4. DGiving an alcoholic drink to warm them up
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

A patient standing for the first time after surgery becomes pale, sweaty and dizzy. What should the nurse do first?

  2. BClostridium botulinum

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · High glucose impairs white cell function and raises the risk of surgical site infection

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Hyperglycemia weakens neutrophil function and slows healing, so it increases the risk of surgical site infection. Keeping glucose in the target range is part of infection prevention for surgical patients.

Antwoord

A · High glucose impairs white cell function and raises the risk of surgical site infection
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · A patient on chemotherapy with a new temperature of 38,4 °C (101,1 °F)

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Fever in a patient who may be neutropenic can be the first sign of sepsis and needs urgent assessment. The other needs are real but stable and can wait a short time.

Antwoord

C · A patient on chemotherapy with a new temperature of 38,4 °C (101,1 °F)
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: B · Gradual rewarming with blankets and warm surroundings

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Gradual passive rewarming with blankets, a warm room and warm drinks if they can swallow is safe for mild hypothermia. Direct heat can burn and rapid rewarming can be dangerous.

Antwoord

B · Gradual rewarming with blankets and warm surroundings
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: B · Help the patient sit or lie down safely

Waarom dit het antwoord is

These signs suggest postural hypotension and a risk of fainting. The nurse lowers the patient safely first, then checks blood pressure and pulse and reports the finding.

Antwoord

B · Help the patient sit or lie down safely
5.Microbiologie

Antwoord: C · BMR (bof, mazelen, rodehond)

Waarom dit het antwoord is

BMR bevat verzwakte levende virussen die zich een beetje vermenigvuldigen en een sterke, langdurige immuniteit geven. Tetanus is een toxoïd en hepatitis B een subunitvaccin.

Antwoord

C · BMR (bof, mazelen, rodehond)
6.Microbiologie

Antwoord: C · Bacillus cereus

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Sporen van Bacillus cereus overleven koken. Als gekookte rijst warm blijft staan, groeien de bacteriën en maken ze een hittestabiel emetisch toxine, dus opwarmen maakt de rijst niet veilig.

Antwoord

C · Bacillus cereus
