Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidGemiddeld

After teaching a patient about a new medication, how does the nurse best check understanding?

  1. AAsk the patient to explain in their own words how and when to take it
  2. BGive a printed leaflet about the drug and assume the patient will read it at home
  3. CAsk the family whether they understood the teaching
  4. DAsk “Do you understand?” and accept a yes
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

A patient in a vest restraint has slid down in bed, and the vest is pressing against the neck. What should the nurse do first?

  1. ACall the provider to ask about a different restraint
  2. BTighten the vest so the patient cannot slide down again
  3. CRelease the restraint at once and reposition the patient
  4. DWrite a note about the event in the chart
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

In the PQRST pain assessment, what does "Q" ask about?

  1. AHow quickly the pain started
  2. BWhether the pain is quieter at night
  3. CThe quality of the pain, such as sharp, dull or burning
  4. DThe quantity of analgesia the patient has already taken today
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

Why should only the patient press the button of a patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pump?

  1. AThe pump only works with the patient's fingerprint
  2. BVisitors might damage the pump or change its settings if they touch it
  3. CA drowsy patient stops pressing, which helps prevent overdose
  4. DNurses are not allowed to give opioids
5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

Wat toont een ELISA-test aan?

  2. Bde plasmaspiegel waarbij bijwerkingen beginnen
  3. Cde laagste concentratie die zichtbare bacteriegroei in vitro voorkomt
  4. Dde hoogste dosis die een patiënt verdraagt

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · Ask the patient to explain in their own words how and when to take it

Waarom dit het antwoord is

With teach-back, the patient explains the information in their own words, which shows whether the teaching worked. A yes to “Do you understand?” does not confirm understanding.

Antwoord

A · Ask the patient to explain in their own words how and when to take it
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · Release the restraint at once and reposition the patient

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Patients have died from strangulation when vest restraints moved up to the neck. The nurse frees the patient immediately, checks breathing and repositions them, then reassesses whether the restraint is needed at all.

Antwoord

C · Release the restraint at once and reposition the patient
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · The quality of the pain, such as sharp, dull or burning

Waarom dit het antwoord is

PQRST covers Provoking or palliating factors, Quality, Region and radiation, Severity and Timing. Describing the quality helps identify the cause of the pain.

Antwoord

C · The quality of the pain, such as sharp, dull or burning
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · A drowsy patient stops pressing, which helps prevent overdose

Waarom dit het antwoord is

If the patient becomes too sleepy they cannot press the button, so no more opioid is given. When others press it this safety is lost and respiratory depression can follow.

Antwoord

C · A drowsy patient stops pressing, which helps prevent overdose
5.Microbiologie
