Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidGemiddeld

A parent says, “I tell my son his medicine is candy so he takes it.” What should the nurse teach?

  1. AThis is a good idea and makes giving medicine easier
  2. BIt only matters for medicines that taste bitter or are hard to swallow
  3. CDo not call medicine candy, because the child may take it when no one is watching
  4. DIt is fine as long as the medicine is kept in the fridge
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

A nursing student describes how they remove PPE (gown, gloves and a mask worn for splash protection) at the doorway before leaving a contact precautions room. Which statement shows a need for further teaching?

  1. A“I take off my mask first, and then I take off my gloves.”
  2. B“I remove my gloves without touching the outside with my bare hand.”
  3. C“I clean my hands as soon as all the PPE is off.”
  4. D“I roll the gown inward as I take it off.”
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

Why should reddened skin over a bony area not be massaged?

  1. AMassage hides early signs of infection
  2. BMassage makes the redness spread to other areas
  3. CMassage is only allowed when done by a physiotherapist
  4. DMassage can damage the deeper tissues further
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

A patient with severe anaemia has an SpO₂ of 98%. Why can this reading be misleading?

  1. AAnaemia makes the oximeter read about 10% higher than the true saturation
  2. BAnaemia damages the light sensor of the oximeter
  3. CThe red cells present are saturated, but the blood carries little oxygen
  4. DPatients with anaemia always have a low true saturation
5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

  4. DAangeboren immuniteit ontstaat pas na vaccinatie
6.MicrobiologieMoeilijk

Een positieve bloedkweek toont grampositieve kokken in trossen. Welk organisme is het meest waarschijnlijk?

  1. AEnterococcus in korte ketens
  2. BNeisseria
  3. CStaphylococcus
  4. DStreptococcus

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · Do not call medicine candy, because the child may take it when no one is watching

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Calling medicine candy encourages children to look for it and swallow it, which can lead to poisoning. Parents are taught to call medicine medicine and keep it locked away.

Antwoord

C · Do not call medicine candy, because the child may take it when no one is watching
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · “I take off my mask first, and then I take off my gloves.”

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Gloves are the most contaminated item and are removed first, so dirty gloves do not touch the face or mask. Gown and gloves are taken off at the doorway before leaving the room, and hand hygiene follows. The other steps are correct.

Antwoord

A · “I take off my mask first, and then I take off my gloves.”
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: D · Massage can damage the deeper tissues further

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Massaging red, pressure-damaged areas can tear small blood vessels and worsen tissue damage. Pressure is relieved by repositioning instead.

Antwoord

D · Massage can damage the deeper tissues further
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · The red cells present are saturated, but the blood carries little oxygen

Waarom dit het antwoord is

SpO₂ shows the percentage of haemoglobin that carries oxygen, not how much haemoglobin there is. With very little haemoglobin the oxygen content of the blood can be low despite a normal saturation.

Antwoord

C · The red cells present are saturated, but the blood carries little oxygen
5.Microbiologie

Antwoord

A · Verworven immuniteit is specifiek en vormt geheugen; aangeboren immuniteit niet
6.Microbiologie

Antwoord: C · Staphylococcus

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Stafylokokken groeien in druifvormige trossen; streptokokken en enterokokken in ketens of paren. Neisseria zijn gramnegatieve diplokokken.

Antwoord

C · Staphylococcus
