Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidGemiddeld

Sputum specimens are ordered to look for acid-fast bacilli (TB). How are they usually collected?

  1. AOne specimen of sputum collected straight after the evening meal, when coughing is easiest
  2. BOne saliva sample collected at any convenient time of day
  3. CThree specimens collected after an antiseptic mouthwash
  4. DThree deep-cough specimens collected 8 to 24 hours apart, at least one early in the morning
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

A visitor is receiving an electric shock from a faulty lamp and is still touching it. What should the nurse do first?

  1. AStart chest compressions straight away
  2. BPull the visitor away from the lamp by the arm as quickly as possible
  3. CSwitch off the power or unplug the lamp without touching the person
  4. DThrow water over the lamp to stop the current
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

What is the main aim of "protected mealtimes" on hospital wards?

  1. ATo make sure all patients eat the same meal at once
  2. BTo let patients eat without interruptions, with help where needed
  3. CTo stop visitors from bringing any food into hospital
  4. DTo give staff a fixed break while the patients are eating their meals
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

A patient spills hot tea on their forearm. What is the best immediate first aid?

  1. ACool the burn under cool running water for about 20 minutes
  2. BCover it with butter or a greasy cream
  3. CPop any blisters to let the heat escape
  4. DPut ice or an ice pack directly on the burn for about 10 minutes
5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

  1. AHij maakt grote hoeveelheden bètalactamase
  2. BHij leeft alleen in rode bloedcellen

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: D · Three deep-cough specimens collected 8 to 24 hours apart, at least one early in the morning

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Several deep-cough sputum samples improve the chance of finding acid-fast bacilli, and early-morning samples contain the most secretions. Saliva is not sputum, and antiseptic mouthwash can affect the result.

Antwoord

D · Three deep-cough specimens collected 8 to 24 hours apart, at least one early in the morning
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · Switch off the power or unplug the lamp without touching the person

Waarom dit het antwoord is

The rescuer must not touch someone still in contact with live current. The power is switched off or the plug pulled first, then the person is assessed and resuscitation is started if needed.

Antwoord

C · Switch off the power or unplug the lamp without touching the person
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: B · To let patients eat without interruptions, with help where needed

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Ward rounds and tests can interrupt meals, and patients then eat less. Protected mealtimes pause non-urgent activity so staff can focus on helping patients eat.

Antwoord

B · To let patients eat without interruptions, with help where needed
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: A · Cool the burn under cool running water for about 20 minutes

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Cool running water for about 20 minutes reduces pain and depth of injury. Ice can damage tissue further, grease holds heat in, and blisters are left intact to protect the skin.

Antwoord

A · Cool the burn under cool running water for about 20 minutes
5.Microbiologie
