Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidGemiddeld

Why are blood cultures usually taken from two separate venipuncture sites?

  1. ATo help tell a true infection from skin contamination
  2. BBecause each site tests a different antibiotic
  3. CTo make the results come back faster from the laboratory
  4. DTo reduce the total amount of blood taken
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

A nurse teaches a patient going home with an MRSA wound infection. Which statement shows a need for further teaching?

  1. A“I will keep the wound covered with a clean, dry dressing.”
  2. B“I will wash my hands after touching my dressing.”
  3. C“I can share towels with my family if I wash them every week.”
  4. D“I will put used dressings in a sealed bag before throwing them out.”
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

An older patient is found to be mildly hypothermic. Which care is most appropriate?

  1. AGradual rewarming with blankets and warm surroundings
  2. BPlacing hot water bottles directly on the skin
  3. CPutting the patient in a very hot bath straight away
  4. DGiving an alcoholic drink to warm them up
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

An infusion pump alarms "occlusion". What should the nurse check first?

  1. AThe fluid prescription chart and the infusion rate written on it
  2. BThe clamps, the tubing for kinks and the cannula site
  3. CThe patient's blood glucose level
  4. DThe battery level of the pump
5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

Welke cellen infecteert en vernietigt hiv vooral?

  1. ACD4-T-helpercellen
  2. BRode bloedcellen
  3. CBloedplaatjes
  4. DNeutrofielen
6.MicrobiologieMoeilijk

In het experiment van Griffith (1928) stierven muizen na injectie van door hitte gedode gladde (S) pneumokokken gemengd met levende ruwe (R) pneumokokken. Wat toonde dit aan?

  1. ARuwe pneumokokken zijn altijd virulenter dan gladde
  2. BEen "transformerend principe" uit dode bacteriën kon onschuldige bacteriën in virulente veranderen
  3. CHitte doodt pneumokokken niet
  4. DVirussen dragen genen over tussen bacteriën

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · To help tell a true infection from skin contamination

Waarom dit het antwoord is

If the same organism grows from both sets, it is more likely to be a true bloodstream infection. Growth in only one set may be contamination from the skin.

Antwoord

A · To help tell a true infection from skin contamination
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · “I can share towels with my family if I wash them every week.”

Waarom dit het antwoord is

MRSA spreads by direct contact and shared items, so towels, razors and linen should not be shared. Hand hygiene, covering the wound and bagging dressings are correct.

Antwoord

C · “I can share towels with my family if I wash them every week.”
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: A · Gradual rewarming with blankets and warm surroundings

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Gradual passive rewarming with blankets, a warm room and warm drinks if they can swallow is safe for mild hypothermia. Direct heat can burn and rapid rewarming can be dangerous.

Antwoord

A · Gradual rewarming with blankets and warm surroundings
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: B · The clamps, the tubing for kinks and the cannula site

Waarom dit het antwoord is

An occlusion alarm means the flow is blocked, for example by a closed clamp, kinked tubing, a bent arm or a blocked cannula. The nurse checks from the bag to the patient.

Antwoord

B · The clamps, the tubing for kinks and the cannula site
5.Microbiologie

Antwoord: A · CD4-T-helpercellen

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Hiv bindt aan CD4 en een coreceptor op T-helpercellen. Verlies van deze cellen verzwakt zowel de humorale als de cellulaire afweer, wat tot aids leidt.

Antwoord

A · CD4-T-helpercellen
6.Microbiologie

Antwoord

B · Een "transformerend principe" uit dode bacteriën kon onschuldige bacteriën in virulente veranderen
