Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidGemiddeld

A child has swallowed a button battery. Why is this urgent?

  1. AIt always passes through the gut without harm
  2. BIt can burn through the lining of the esophagus within hours
  3. CIt is only harmful if several batteries are swallowed
  4. DThe only risk is poisoning from heavy metals years later
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

While preparing a chemotherapy infusion, the drug splashes onto a nurse’s forearm. What should the nurse do first?

  1. ACover the area with a dressing and report later
  2. BWipe the skin with an alcohol swab and continue preparing the infusion
  3. CRemove contaminated PPE and wash the skin with soap and water at once
  4. DFinish hanging the infusion and then wash the skin
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

When opening a sterile pack on a table, which flap is opened first?

  1. AAny flap, as long as you wear sterile gloves
  2. BThe flap on your dominant side
  3. CThe flap furthest away from you
  4. DThe flap nearest to you
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

A postoperative wound drain that had drained little suddenly fills with bright red blood. What should the nurse do?

  1. ARemove the drain because it is not working
  2. BClamp the drain and tell no one
  3. CCheck the patient's vital signs and report it urgently
  4. DEmpty the drain and record it at the next routine round
5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

Welk deel van het immuunsysteem maakt antistoffen?

  3. CZe doden zelf bacteriën via het celmembraan
  4. DZe maken amoxicilline werkzaam tegen virussen

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: B · It can burn through the lining of the esophagus within hours

Waarom dit het antwoord is

A button battery lodged in the esophagus can cause severe chemical burns within a few hours, so the child needs emergency assessment and often removal. It should never be treated as harmless.

Antwoord

B · It can burn through the lining of the esophagus within hours
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · Remove contaminated PPE and wash the skin with soap and water at once

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Skin exposure to hazardous drugs is washed immediately with soap and water after removing contaminated gloves or gown. The exposure is then reported and treated according to policy.

Antwoord

C · Remove contaminated PPE and wash the skin with soap and water at once
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · The flap furthest away from you

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Opening the far flap first means the nurse never reaches across the exposed sterile contents. The side flaps follow, and the nearest flap is opened last.

Antwoord

C · The flap furthest away from you
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · Check the patient's vital signs and report it urgently

Waarom dit het antwoord is

A sudden increase in fresh blood may mean active bleeding. The nurse assesses for signs of shock, such as a rising pulse and falling blood pressure, and escalates immediately.

Antwoord

C · Check the patient's vital signs and report it urgently
5.Microbiologie
