Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidGemiddeld

Why is keeping a patient warm (normothermia) during surgery part of infection prevention?

  1. ALow body temperature reduces blood flow and immune function in the wound
  2. BWarm patients do not need antibiotic prophylaxis
  3. CCold makes bacteria grow faster in the operating room air and on the drapes
  4. DWarmth sterilizes the surgical site
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

Minutes after the first IV dose of an antibiotic starts, the patient develops wheezing, hives and low blood pressure. What should the nurse do first?

  1. ARecord the new allergy in the chart
  2. BGive an oral antihistamine
  3. CStop the infusion
  4. DSlow the infusion rate
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

A patient with capacity wants to leave hospital against medical advice. What should the nurse do?

  1. ALock the ward door to keep the patient in until the doctor arrives
  2. BLet them go without telling anyone
  3. CHide the patient's clothes so they cannot leave
  4. DExplain the risks, inform the doctor and document the discussion
4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

A colleague suggests giving a patient who "asks for pain relief too often" a saline injection to check whether the pain is real. What is correct?

  1. AIt is acceptable if the doctor agrees
  2. BIt is a good way to test whether the patient's pain is real
  3. CIt is deceptive; the pain should be assessed and treated
  4. DIt is acceptable, provided the patient is not told about it
5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

  1. AHij maakt grote hoeveelheden bètalactamase
  2. BHij leeft alleen in rode bloedcellen

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · Low body temperature reduces blood flow and immune function in the wound

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Hypothermia causes vasoconstriction and less oxygen in the wound, which weakens the immune defense. Keeping the patient warm is linked to fewer surgical site infections.

Antwoord

A · Low body temperature reduces blood flow and immune function in the wound
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: C · Stop the infusion

Waarom dit het antwoord is

These are signs of anaphylaxis. The nurse stops the infusion at once, calls for help and supports the airway, and intramuscular epinephrine (adrenaline) is the first-line treatment. Documentation comes later.

Antwoord

C · Stop the infusion
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: D · Explain the risks, inform the doctor and document the discussion

Waarom dit het antwoord is

An adult with capacity can discharge themselves. The nurse explains the risks, involves the doctor, offers follow-up and documents the decision; detaining them would be unlawful.

Antwoord

D · Explain the risks, inform the doctor and document the discussion
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · It is deceptive; the pain should be assessed and treated

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Using a placebo without consent deceives the patient and damages trust. Response to a placebo does not prove the pain is not real. The patient's report should be believed and reassessed.

Antwoord

C · It is deceptive; the pain should be assessed and treated
5.Microbiologie

Antwoord: B · Zijn polysacharidekapsel
