1Formule e metodi

Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente

Metodo

  2. Aggiungi precauzioni in base alla via: contatto (camice, guanti), goccioline (mascherina chirurgica), via aerea (N95, stanza a pressione negativa).
  4. Previeni i danni nell’ambiente: misure anticaduta, contenzione solo come ultima risorsa, RACE e PASS per l’incendio.

2Esercizi

1.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del pazienteMedia

A patient with a respiratory infection has a raised procalcitonin level. What does this most suggest?

  1. AA purely viral illness
  2. BAn allergic reaction to a recent medication
  3. CA bacterial rather than a viral infection
  4. DDehydration from poor intake
2.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del pazienteDifficile

A nurse calculates a child’s prescribed dose and finds it is ten times higher than the usual dose for the child’s weight. What should the nurse do?

  1. AHold the dose and verify it with the prescriber and pharmacist
  2. BGive one-tenth of the dose without telling anyone about it
  3. CGive half the dose and watch the child closely
  4. DGive it, because the prescriber must have a reason
3.Fondamenti di infermieristicaMedia

A patient arrives back on the ward after surgery. What does the nurse assess first?

  1. AFluid balance chart
  2. BPain score
  3. CThe wound dressing
  4. DAirway and breathing
4.Fondamenti di infermieristicaDifficile

A stable patient is woken every hour for observations and is becoming tired and confused. What is the best nursing action?

  1. AKeep the same plan, as observations matter more than sleep for patients
  2. BAsk the team whether the observations can safely be done less often
  3. CAsk the doctor for a sedative to help the patient sleep
  4. DStop all observations so the patient can sleep
5.MicrobiologiaMedia

  4. DLe persone vaccinate trasmettono anticorpi a chiunque incontrino
6.MicrobiologiaDifficile

  1. AInfezione acuta in atto da epatite B
  2. BImmunità da vaccinazione contro l'epatite B
  3. CPregressa infezione naturale guarita
  4. DInfezione cronica da epatite B

3Soluzioni

1.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente

Risposta: C · A bacterial rather than a viral infection

Perché è questa la risposta

Procalcitonin rises mainly in bacterial infections and much less in viral ones. It is used with clinical judgement to help decide when antibiotics are needed or can be stopped.

Risposta

C · A bacterial rather than a viral infection
2.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente

Risposta: A · Hold the dose and verify it with the prescriber and pharmacist

Perché è questa la risposta

Tenfold errors are common in pediatrics, usually from decimal or unit mistakes. The nurse holds the dose and clarifies it, and never changes the dose on their own.

Risposta

A · Hold the dose and verify it with the prescriber and pharmacist
3.Fondamenti di infermieristica

Risposta: D · Airway and breathing

Perché è questa la risposta

After anaesthesia the airway and breathing are checked first, then circulation, consciousness, pain, the wound, drains and fluids.

Risposta

D · Airway and breathing
4.Fondamenti di infermieristica

Risposta: B · Ask the team whether the observations can safely be done less often

Perché è questa la risposta

Lack of sleep can contribute to delirium. If the patient's scores are stable, the frequency of observations can be reviewed by the team so care is safe but less disruptive.

Risposta

B · Ask the team whether the observations can safely be done less often
5.Microbiologia

Risposta

B · Immunità da vaccinazione contro l'epatite B
