1Formule e metodi

Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente

Metodo

  2. Aggiungi precauzioni in base alla via: contatto (camice, guanti), goccioline (mascherina chirurgica), via aerea (N95, stanza a pressione negativa).
  4. Previeni i danni nell’ambiente: misure anticaduta, contenzione solo come ultima risorsa, RACE e PASS per l’incendio.

2Esercizi

1.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del pazienteMedia

Why is keeping a patient warm (normothermia) during surgery part of infection prevention?

  1. AWarm patients do not need antibiotic prophylaxis
  2. BLow body temperature reduces blood flow and immune function in the wound
  3. CWarmth sterilizes the surgical site
  4. DCold makes bacteria grow faster in the operating room air and on the drapes
2.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del pazienteDifficile

A nurse often skips barcode scanning to save time, as many colleagues do. In a just culture, how is this behavior classed?

  1. AReckless behavior, managed by immediate dismissal and reporting to the licensing board
  2. BAcceptable behavior, because it is common on the unit
  3. CSimple human error, managed only by consoling the nurse and moving on
  4. DAt-risk behavior, managed by coaching and fixing the system pressures behind it
3.Fondamenti di infermieristicaMedia

Why is nail varnish or false nails often removed before surgery?

  1. AThey can affect pulse oximetry and checking skin colour
  2. BThey make the anaesthetic work less well
  3. CThey can catch fire from the electrical equipment used in theatre
  4. DThey are a common cause of wound infection
4.Fondamenti di infermieristicaDifficile

During tracheal suction a patient's SpO₂ falls from 95% to 85% and the heart rate drops. What should the nurse do?

  1. AIncrease the suction pressure to finish faster
  2. BStop suctioning and give oxygen until the patient recovers
  3. CContinue until all the secretions have been removed from the airway
  4. DInsert the catheter further into the airway
5.MicrobiologiaMedia

  1. AE. coli produttore di Shiga-tossina, come O157:H7
  2. BClostridium perfringens
  3. CRotavirus
  4. DStaphylococcus aureus

3Soluzioni

1.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente

Risposta: B · Low body temperature reduces blood flow and immune function in the wound

Perché è questa la risposta

Hypothermia causes vasoconstriction and less oxygen in the wound, which weakens the immune defense. Keeping the patient warm is linked to fewer surgical site infections.

Risposta

B · Low body temperature reduces blood flow and immune function in the wound
2.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente

Risposta: D · At-risk behavior, managed by coaching and fixing the system pressures behind it

Perché è questa la risposta

At-risk behavior is a choice whose risk is not recognized or is believed to be justified, often because shortcuts have become normal. It is managed by coaching and removing the pressures behind it, while reckless behavior may need disciplinary action.

Risposta

D · At-risk behavior, managed by coaching and fixing the system pressures behind it
3.Fondamenti di infermieristica

Risposta: A · They can affect pulse oximetry and checking skin colour

Perché è questa la risposta

Dark varnish or false nails can block the oximeter's light and hide nail-bed colour. Clear access to the nails helps monitor oxygenation and circulation.

Risposta

A · They can affect pulse oximetry and checking skin colour
4.Fondamenti di infermieristica

Risposta: B · Stop suctioning and give oxygen until the patient recovers

Perché è questa la risposta

Suction removes oxygen and can stimulate the vagus nerve, causing hypoxia and bradycardia. The nurse stops, oxygenates and lets the patient recover before trying again.

Risposta

B · Stop suctioning and give oxygen until the patient recovers
5.Microbiologia

Risposta

D · Reintegrare liquidi e sali con reidratazione orale o endovenosa
6.Microbiologia

Risposta

A · E. coli produttore di Shiga-tossina, come O157:H7
