1Formule e metodi
2Esercizi
1.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del pazienteMedia
A patient has patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). A family member presses the button while the patient sleeps. What should the nurse explain?
AFamily can press it as long as they count the presses
BThe pump will always stop any overdose
COnly the patient should press it, because this keeps the system safe
DPressing it while the patient sleeps prevents the pain from getting worse later
A catheterised patient has had no urine in the bag for two hours. What should the nurse check first?
ANothing, as two hours without urine is normal
BThe patient's blood glucose level and recent insulin doses
CThe tubing for kinks or blockage and where the bag is
DWhether the patient has eaten or drunk anything recently
4.Fondamenti di infermieristicaDifficile
For a patient at risk of pressure ulcers, why is the head of the bed usually kept at 30 degrees or less if their condition allows?
AHigher angles always cause breathing problems in patients who are bedbound
BLower angles stop the patient from getting out of bed
CLower angles increase blood flow to the heels
DHigher angles make the patient slide down, causing shear over the sacrum
5.MicrobiologiaMedia
3Soluzioni
1.Controllo delle infezioni e sicurezza del paziente
Risposta: C · Only the patient should press it, because this keeps the system safe
Perché è questa la risposta
PCA is safe because a patient who becomes drowsy stops pressing the button. When others press it (“PCA by proxy”), sedation and respiratory depression can occur.
Risposta
C · Only the patient should press it, because this keeps the system safe
Risposta: C · The tubing for kinks or blockage and where the bag is
Perché è questa la risposta
Kinked or trapped tubing, a bag above bladder level or a blocked catheter are common causes. If these are fine, the patient is assessed for low output and the doctor informed.
Risposta
C · The tubing for kinks or blockage and where the bag is
4.Fondamenti di infermieristica
Risposta: D · Higher angles make the patient slide down, causing shear over the sacrum
Perché è questa la risposta
When the head is raised high, the body tends to slide while the skin stays still, distorting the tissues over the sacrum. Keeping the angle low, where safe, reduces this shear.
Risposta
D · Higher angles make the patient slide down, causing shear over the sacrum
5.Microbiologia
Risposta
C · Immunità passiva naturale
6.Microbiologia
Risposta
C · Un «principio trasformante» dei batteri morti poteva trasformare batteri innocui in batteri virulenti
