答え: C · A drought
Three months without rain, a low river and worried farmers describe a drought, a long period of very little rainfall.
答え: C · Fame is not expertise in skin care.
Being famous does not make someone an expert on skin care, and she may be paid to promote it. This is an appeal to a celebrity, not real evidence.
答え: C · breath
“Breath” (short e sound) is the noun. “Breathe” (long e sound) is the verb, as in “Breathe slowly.”
答え: A · It is nonstandard; use “regardless” instead.
“Irregardless” combines the negative prefix ir- with the negative suffix -less. Dictionaries label it nonstandard, so formal writing uses “regardless”.
答え: D · Listen to with a stethoscope
To auscultate is to listen to body sounds, usually with a stethoscope.
答え: C · novice
