答え: B · Ana, who reads a paper book for the last hour
Experts suggest putting screens away an hour before bed. Only Ana does this, reading a paper book instead.
答え: D · The schools may have become crowded.
A 50 percent rise in population with no new schools suggests that each school must serve more pupils, so crowding is likely.
A · Memory cells give a faster, stronger response the next time
After the first infection, memory B and T cells remain. On a second exposure they respond much faster and more strongly, so the virus is cleared before it causes illness.
答え: D · 1000 base pairs
The fragments together make up the whole molecule: 500 + 300 + 200 = 1000 base pairs. The three fragments also show that there were two cutting sites.
答え: C · Bent
Water has two bonding pairs and two lone pairs around oxygen. The lone pairs push the O–H bonds closer, giving a bent shape (about 104.5°), which also makes water polar.
答え: B · 溶けた塩が水の凝固点を下げるから
溶けた粒子が凝固点を下げる(凝固点降下)ため、塩水は 0 °C より低い温度でも液体のままである。
答え: A · Lack of sleep can affect your memory.
“Affect” means to influence (a verb). The noun meaning “result” is “effect”, which fits the other three sentences.
答え: B · Imperative
The imperative mood gives commands or instructions. The indicative states facts, and the subjunctive expresses wishes or conditions contrary to fact.
答え: C · Swallowed
To ingest is to take something into the body by swallowing it.
答え: B · ambiguous
Ambiguous means open to more than one interpretation. Explicit means clearly stated.
