Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

2Oefenopgaven

A nurse’s hands are dry and cracked from frequent hand hygiene. What is the best approach?

  1. AUse the hand lotion approved by the facility to keep the skin intact
  2. BUse any lotion from home, whatever its contents
  3. CStop hand hygiene until the skin heals
  4. DWear gloves all day instead of cleaning the hands between patients
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheidMoeilijk

A patient sitting in a chair starts to have a generalized seizure. What should the nurse do?

  1. AEase the patient to the floor, protect the head and turn them on their side
  2. BPut a padded tongue blade between the teeth to protect the tongue and airway
  3. CLeave to get the provider, then return
  4. DHold the patient firmly in the chair until the seizure stops
3.BasisverpleegkundeGemiddeld

A goal states: "The patient will report pain of 3/10 or less within one hour of analgesia." After one hour the patient reports 6/10. What should the nurse do?

  1. AChange the goal to 6/10 or less so that it counts as met
  2. BRecord the goal as not met and review the plan
  3. CRecord the goal as met, as the pain has gone down

4.BasisverpleegkundeMoeilijk

5.MicrobiologieGemiddeld

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · Use the hand lotion approved by the facility to keep the skin intact

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Cracked skin is harder to clean and harbors more organisms. Facility-approved lotions help keep the skin healthy without reducing the effect of hand antiseptics such as chlorhexidine.

Antwoord

A · Use the hand lotion approved by the facility to keep the skin intact
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · Ease the patient to the floor, protect the head and turn them on their side

Waarom dit het antwoord is

The nurse guides the patient gently to the floor, cushions the head, moves objects away and turns the patient on their side to protect the airway. The nurse stays, times the seizure and calls for help.

Antwoord

A · Ease the patient to the floor, protect the head and turn them on their side
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: B · Record the goal as not met and review the plan

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Evaluation compares the outcome with the goal. The goal was not met, so the nurse reassesses, reports and revises the plan, for example with a different analgesic.

Antwoord

B · Record the goal as not met and review the plan
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: D · An unwise decision alone does not mean the person lacks capacity

Waarom dit het antwoord is

One of the Act's principles is that a person is not treated as lacking capacity just because they make an unwise decision. Staff can explain risks, but the decision is the patient's.

Antwoord

D · An unwise decision alone does not mean the person lacks capacity
5.Microbiologie

Antwoord: C · Herpesvirussen
