Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Methode

Ten minutes into a red blood cell transfusion, the patient reports chills and low back pain and has a new fever. What should the nurse do first?

  1. AStop the transfusion
  2. BCall the blood bank and let the transfusion continue

Why should insulin injection sites be rotated?

  1. ATo make the insulin work more quickly with each injection
  2. BTo stop the patient getting used to the needle

  1. AStaphylococcus

3Oplossingen

1.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: B · Lymphocytes

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Lymphocytes increase in many viral infections. Neutrophils rise mainly with bacterial infections, and eosinophils with allergies and parasites.

Antwoord

B · Lymphocytes
2.Infectiepreventie en patiëntveiligheid

Antwoord: A · Stop the transfusion

Waarom dit het antwoord is

These signs suggest an acute transfusion reaction, possibly hemolytic. The nurse stops the transfusion at once, keeps the IV open with normal saline through new tubing, assesses the patient and notifies the provider and blood bank.

Antwoord

A · Stop the transfusion
3.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: D · To prevent lumpy fatty swelling that affects absorption

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Injecting in the same place causes lipohypertrophy, which makes absorption unpredictable. Patients rotate within an area and check sites for lumps.

Antwoord

D · To prevent lumpy fatty swelling that affects absorption
4.Basisverpleegkunde

Antwoord: C · Report it urgently, as the stoma may be losing its blood supply

Waarom dit het antwoord is

A dusky, purple or black stoma suggests ischaemia or necrosis, which can need surgery. The nurse reports it to the surgical team at once.

Antwoord

C · Report it urgently, as the stoma may be losing its blood supply
5.Microbiologie

Antwoord: C · Een opportunistische infectie

Antwoord

C · Een opportunistische infectie
6.Microbiologie

Antwoord: A · Staphylococcus

Waarom dit het antwoord is

Stafylokokken groeien in druifvormige trossen; streptokokken en enterokokken in ketens of paren. Neisseria zijn gramnegatieve diplokokken.

Antwoord

A · Staphylococcus
